Residential Building Inspections
Codes Administration inspects residential construction to check work for compliance with applicable building codes. Contact staff to confirm the inspections required for your permitted project and when each inspection should be requested.
Request an Inspection
Call 816-228-0104 to request a building inspection. Have your permit number, property address, requested inspection type, and contact information ready.
Inspection requests must be made by 3 p.m. the day before the requested inspection date. Requests received after 3 p.m. may be scheduled for the next available business day based on inspector availability. Same-day inspections will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for life-safety concerns.
Prepare for the Inspection
Make sure the work is ready for the requested inspection and coordinate access to the inspection area. Ask staff about any project-specific preparation requirements when scheduling.
If work is not ready when the inspector arrives, the inspection may be recorded as failed, a reinspection fee may apply, and the project may be delayed.
