Commercial Building Inspections

Codes Administration inspects commercial construction to check work for compliance with applicable building codes. Contact staff to confirm the inspections required for your permitted project, including new construction, additions, and alterations.

Request an Inspection

Call 816-228-0104 to request a building inspection. Have your permit number, project address, requested inspection type, and site contact information ready.

Inspection requests must be made by 3 p.m. the day before the requested inspection date. Requests received after 3 p.m. may be scheduled for the next available business day based on inspector availability. Same-day inspections will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for life-safety concerns.

Prepare for the Inspection

Coordinate with your contractor and site contact so the work is ready and the inspection area is accessible. Ask Codes Administration about project-specific preparation and any coordination needed with other reviewing agencies.

If work is not ready when the inspector arrives, the inspection may be recorded as failed, a reinspection fee may apply, and the project may be delayed.
