Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the zoning of a property?

Begin with the mapping resources available through the Open Data portal. For confirmation of a property's zoning or questions about what can be built or operated there, contact the City Development Department's Planning Division.

Can a GIS map establish my property lines?

No. Parcel lines shown in GIS are for general reference. A GIS map does not replace a recorded plat, deed, or boundary survey prepared by a licensed land surveyor.

How do I report a data error or a link that does not work?

Contact GIS staff with the map or application name, the address or location involved, and a brief description of the issue. A screenshot can help staff identify the problem. Parcel boundaries and data are from Jackson County. Contact them for changes.

What if my parcel data is not right?

Blue Springs is responsible for addressing, if the address for the parcel is not right please contact us. Parcel boundaries and data are from Jackson County and you would need to contact them for parcel corrections.

Can I download GIS data?

Check the Open Data portal for available download options and information about each dataset. Contact GIS staff if you cannot find the information you need.
